MSNBC’s Tamron Hall Apologizes for Photo of Trayvon Martin’s Dead Body

After much uproar, MSNBC’s Tamron Hall apologized on Friday for showing a photo of Trayvon Martin’s dead body on her show.

The high-profile case has received nearly minute-to-minute coverage by news broadcast stations. During Zimmerman’s trial, the disturbing image was shown to the jury. It showed Martin lying on the ground shortly after being shot by George Zimmerman. Most networks quickly cut away from the crime scene photo. MSNBC says the network tried, but didn’t react quickly enough. As a result, viewers unexpectedly got an eye-full of the contentious photo.

The news blog, Gawker later posted a large screen-grab of the picture with the title “This, Courtesy of MSNBC, Is Trayvon Martin’s Dead Body. Get Angry.” The post sparked heated debates across the blogosphere as to whether or not the image is suitable for journalists to put on display.

As for Hall, she says MSNBC made an “awful mistake.” She posted her response to an outraged viewer via Twitter:
