A South Carolina high school football coach has been fired because his team’s post-game victories involved watermelon smashing and ape-like sounds.

The mostly white Academic Magnet High School football team would celebrate victories by smashing watermelons with smiling faces drawn on them while making ape-like chants. They would then eat the watermelon as a post-game snack. Superintendent Nancy McGinley says that a board member notified her of a parent on the opposing team who had been offended by the gestures.

The district announced that Bud Walpole would no longer coach the football team or the school’s girls’ basketball team, but he would be kept on as a teacher. An online petition seeking reinstatement had 1,500 signatures as of late Tuesday.

McGinley said the district met with players, students and coaches last week, but the staff said that they were aware of the ritual and “they did not observe cultural insensitivity.”

“It was our conclusion that the accountability lies with the adults — that the perceptions and practices that were part of this ritual were not something that adults should have sanctioned,” she said.

“Saturday Night Live” has added another Black female to its official cast roster. Leslie Jones, a writer for the sketch comedy show who has appeared in a few “Weekend Update” segments, has been announced as a new cast member.

Jones earned mixed reviews for a “Weekend Update” appearance in May in which she said that she would not be single if we still had slavery. “See, I’m single right now, but back in the slave days, I would have never been single.”

The 47-year-old comedienne has been performing since 1987. She toured with Katt Williams and appeared on BET and HBO’s “Def Comedy Jam.” She’s also been a featured performer at the Just For Laughs festival in Montreal and the Aspen Comedy Festival.

Jones’ premiere as an official cast member will happen this Saturday, October 25, with host Jim Carrey.

We’re pretty sure Bravo was referring to the hard work that goes into achieving career goals and lifelong dreams when it cast “Blood Sweat & Heels,” not actual violence. But violence is exactly what went down last night, Oct. 21.

The Bravo cameras captured a major brawl between cast members Geneva Thomas and Melyssa Ford, and the incident culminated in the arrest of Thomas.

The cast is currently filming the second season of the show and at least Thomas and Ford attended a boat party at Pier 40 near Hudson River Park, in New York. It’s not clear what instigated the fight, but if you remember, Thomas talked smack about Ford’s financial woes in the first season and had a contentious relationship with her, Daisy Lewellyn, and Mica Hughes. If the rumors about the guest list are true, Ford also could’ve been upset that she wasn’t invited to Thomas’ costume party last week at Harlem’s The Park 112. Even though Thomas wasn’t on the best terms with Lewellyn and Hughes after the first season reunion, both attended the fete, yet there was no Ford in sight.

Reportedly, Thomas attacked Ford with a vodka bottle. Ford sought medical attention and received stitches for the gash, according to sources. At 9:42 p.m. on Oct. 21, Thomas was booked at the NYPD’s 6th Precinct in Manhattan on two felony assault charges. Thomas is expected to go before a judge in Manhattan Criminal Court at 2 p.m. today, Oct. 22.

This isn’t Thomas’ first run-in with the law since gaining fame via “Blood Sweat & Heels.” In September, she was arrested for allegedly skipping out on cab fare of less than $20. She says the driver prevented her from paying with a debit card and tried to overcharge her.

A former member of the legendary Harlem Globetrotters has been missing for over a week. While embarking on a 1,100-mile trek from California to Seattle, Rico Omar Harris seemingly disappeared. He has yet to make contact with his long-time girlfriend, whom he had been headed to see.

The last person to actually speak to the 37 year old was his mother, Margaret Fernandez. On October 10, Harris called to inform her that he was passing through Sacramento and was going to eat and take a nap. An hour later, he left his girlfriend a voicemail. He hasn’t been heard of since.

However, 60 mile northwest of Sacramento, Harris’ Black Nissan was discovered days later. After running the license plates, local police confirmed that the car did belong to Harris and lead a team to do a critical search around the surrounding area. A cellphone, backpack, and jumper cables were amongst the items found in the search. It became evident that his car battery had died.

In a press conference this past Monday, Fernandez discussed her son. “I miss my son,” a visibly upset Fernandez told reporters. “I’m very, very sad.”

Police disclosed that his journey began in Alhambra, California 1 a.m. on October 10. The police ask that if anyone has any additional information regarding this case to please call, 530-668-5280.

Thanks to the contributions from the dynamic Williams sisters, a newly-renovated tennis arena is on its way to Washington, D.C. This new center will be 48,00 square feet and will be located in the city’s Ward 8.

Thanks in part to a generous donation from Venus and Serena Williams, the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center (SETLC) has undergone an $18 million renovation. Since the First Ladies of tennis served up a hefty amount for a worthy cause, the SETLC announced via a press release that the new arena will be called the Venus and Serena Williams Tennis Arena. The center will be unveiled at the SETLC’s Tennis Shoes, Ties & After Five Gala on November 7. The event will be hosted by the Recreation Wish List Committee (RWLC) and emceed by CBS News and Sports Broadcaster James “JB” Brown.

When referencing the upcoming event, President and Founder of RWLC Cora Masters Barry had this to say about the legendary tennis players:

“The support of Venus and Serena is something that has been a driving force behind the success of the Center from day one. We are privileged to be able to honor them with the naming of the new tennis arena and thrilled that they will be in attendance on November 7 for the unveiling and entire gala. Relationships can become boring, monotonous, and well … not sexy. Relationships are in fact work and you need to constantly nourish and dedicate time to making it enjoyable for you and your partner. Juggling busy lifestyle elements such as work, school, kids, and let’s not forget money woes can all take precedent over intimacy, and usually lead to arguments, added stress, and break-ups. There are many ways of expressing and feeling an intimate connection with your partner, and sex is one of them, so why not have a little fun while doing it?

Here are six ways to have bedroom fun …

1. Dancing

I know what you’re thinking, “Jonesie, I am not messing up my original hardwood floors by splashing water on myself while hanging onto a chair!” Listen, I am not telling you to re-enact this particular scene from Flashdance, but would your man really be mad if you did? When you throw on something sexy (or be a total sex goddess-vixen and go nude) and start dancing like you own the place — which you probably do, or maybe you rent like me, either way, you’re a goddess — he will be left speechless.

Well, let’s talk strategy then shall we. To put yourself in the right frame of mind I suggest practicing alone or take it up a notch and attend a dance class, which can also be fun! Grab a girlfriend or go it alone and let your inner sex goddess come through … I know she is in there. Put on that dress that makes you feel insanely sexy, or panty set that you paid way too much for, grab your man/woman by the hand, sit him/her down and give ‘em a show. Why not? Don’t worry about looking perfect, because you are gorgeous and honestly, honey, you being “on beat” is not the point of this exercise. It’s not about sliding up and down a pole and spinning on your head (although if you can do that, I for one would like lessons), it’s about exuding your sensuality in a fun and new way.

2. Blindfolds

Having five senses is pretty awesome. I mean we touch, feel, hear, taste, and see everything, which is fabulous when it comes to sex, right? Well, when you take one of those senses away, every other sense is heightened. Blindfolding your partner is crazy sexy. (Um … hello see the above pic of JLo, her abs, and that blindfold?!) Now do we all have rock-hard abs and a young tenderoni to put a blindfold on us? No. We don’t need six-pack abs and a youngin’ to experience this heightened state of awareness. All you need is a tie, scarf, or blindfold purchased from a store. Trust me when I say your partner will not object to this act at all.

Just in case your partner has any apprehension, you should talk about why they’re such a damn square and maybe you need to dump them. Alright, that was harsh. They’re not squares and you shouldn’t leave them. Talk about any misgivings your partner may have. Another way of easing any fear they may have is by talking them through everything you are doing while you’re doing it. Also, grab their hands and let them feel their way about you. Again, their four other senses are super sensitive right now and the sound of your voice, and being able to touch you without seeing you will literally drive them crazy.

3. Restraints

Grab a scarf, tie, rope. Easy, right? Wait, before you tie your partner up, have a discussion about boundaries. Just like with blindfolding, restraints can also make you or your partner nervous, as it means you are relinquishing control to someone. Restraints are often used to magnify the intensity of sensations you feel with your partner, which is seriously a win-win for everyone, am I right?

4. Watch & Learn

This can either mean watching adult videos, making a video of yourselves, or pleasuring yourself while your partner observes. Let’s tackle these options. Watching adult videos can be very helpful if you or your partner are interested in attempting moves you’ve heard of but may not know how to master just yet, and need a quick tutorial. Where this can be tricky is if there are moves your partner wants to try, but you are totally not into. Option two: Make a homemade video … Um … I need you all to pump your brakes right now and calm down, there is nothing wrong with making a video with your partner, but you MUST discuss, and literally create a list of rules. I am completely serious when I say that you need to protect yourself. Make a list, sign a contract, and do not use the Cloud to make it. Option three: Pleasing yourself while your partner watches is a great way of teaching them exactly what you need and like. And we all know that learning is fundamental.

5. Role Play

How sexy was Eartha Kitt as Catwoman? Who wouldn’t want to be her?! Role play is fun and sexy, and can lower your inhibitions, which will allow you to enjoy your night of fun with your partner even more. At first you may feel a bit silly dressed up on a Tuesday night, after work, in the middle of October, but think of all of the amazing fun you can have with this. You can fulfill your partner’s fantasies and vice versa not only through costume, but through taking on a totally different persona and running with it. Roleplay can also be taken out of the bedroom. Head over to a bar or restaurant, and “pick-up” your significant other. Listen, we all love a good fireman or nurse fantasy, so just roll with it!

6. Romance

Romance is not dead, so please do not go there. It is alive and something that must always be worked on in a relationship. Remember when you would text your significant other in the middle of the day, make them their favorite dinner, throw on that sexy lingerie, take showers together, light candles, massage each other? Or maybe you have literally never experienced the type of romance you deserve. It’s time to change that, dammit! Play some music, light some candles, run a bath, and put those cell phones away. Focus on each other. In relationships, this type of effort seems to fade, but is always expected. You cannot receive what you do not put out. Your man is not a mind reader and if you feel he is never romantic or doesn’t try, then stop for a moment and think about the last time you set up a romantic night/gesture for him. So, draw a bath, throw on something sexy, play some music, light some candles — and have fun. Thank me later.

The University of North Carolina (UNC) admitted on Wednesday that its scandal surrounding academic fraud for student athletes is worse than the public previously was told.

The university was at the center of a debate about corruption in the $16 billion college athletics industry after it was discovered that they ushered basketball and football players into fake classes in order to keep them eligible to play.

The latest in a series of university-sponsored investigations revealed that from 1993-2011, around 3,100 students participated in “paper classes” with no faculty oversight and no actual class attendance. Almost half of the students enrolled in these fake classes were athletes. Many of the basketball and football players were directed to the classes via academic counselors who were specifically assigned to guide student athletes. “These counselors saw the paper classes and the artificially high grades they yielded as key to helping some student-athletes remain eligible,” said UNC in a written statement.

Black Studies was the department that hosted the fake classes, according to the findings of Kenneth Wainstein, the former federal prosecutor who led this latest investigation. The department offered hundreds of “irregular classes” under the direction of Julius Nyang’oro, ex-chairman of the department, and Deborah Crowder, his top administrative aide. No wrongdoing was found outside of that department. UNC noted that “no current coaches were involved or aware.” This finding is particularly offensive given that UNC’s elite athletes are disproportionately African American.

UNC-Chapel Hill Chancellor Carol Folt said, “I apologize first to the students who entrusted us with their education and took these courses.” Folt, who became chancellor in 2013, promised rigorous academic reform and said that nine unspecified UNC employees would be disciplined or fired. “Mr. Wainstein has found that the wrongdoing at Carolina lasted much longer and affected more students than previously known. The bad actions of a few and the inaction of others failed the university’s students, faculty and alumni, and undermined the institution as a whole.”

A separate investigation is being conducted by the NCAA.

The bodies of three or four dead infants were found in a storage unit in Manitoba, Canada. Police say that the discovery in a Winnipeg U-Haul is “tragic beyond belief.”

Police spokesman Const. Eric Hofley said the bodies were found Monday afternoon in various stages of decomposition. Autopsies are planned to determine cause of death, age and the exact number of bodies. Hafley says the bodies were newborns or someone “of a very young age” and called the incident “disturbing.”

The bodies were found by employees who phoned police at around 1 p.m. Sources told CBC News it’s “a gruesome scene.” It is still unclear how long the bodies had been in the locker.

Hofley said that member of the department’s child abuse unit are currently on the case, but that depending on the development of evidence, the homicide unit may become involved. Even if it is found that there was no foul play involved, charges will likely be filed.

“Obviously, you’re not allowed to store or conceal human remains. That in itself would be a charge,” Hofley said. “Again, until such time as the autopsies have determined what is the cause of this, we won’t know what the full extent of the charges may or may not be.”

Kirsten Kramar, a criminologist and chair of the sociology department at the University of Winnipeg, said that the challenge for investigators will be determining whether or not the babies were born alive. “Obviously, we don’t know who may have been present at the time of the birth,” she said. “It’s extremely difficult for forensic scientists to tell us if the babies have been born alive or not, so that’s one of the challenges for sure.”

A CBC News update indicated that a woman renting the U-Haul unit was being questioned by authorities.

Razmin Mansoub, a spokesman for U-Haul, released the following statement:

U-Haul team members made a disturbing discovery when taking inventory of a delinquent storage locker on Monday.

They immediately contacted law enforcement who believed the locker contained human remains. U-Haul is deeply shocked and saddened by this discovery.

Out of respect for the ongoing investigation, U-Haul cannot comment with any further details. We will continue to fully co-operate with authorities.

A 22-year-old substitute teacher at a D.C. charter school for at-risk youth pled not guilty to accusations of having oral sex with an 11th grade student on her first day at the school. Symone Greene was subbing at Options Public Charter School when she allegedly had the encounter with the 17-year-old football player behind a desk in the classroom during a pep rally. The footballer secretly recorded a part of the encounter and shared the video with five of his football teammates and a childhood friend.

The Washington Post reports the football player gave the teacher his cell phone number at the end of the school day. The two began a texting relationship that included the word “kinky” to describe the teacher. She responded back with “I don’t tell I show.” The student then returned to the classroom at 3:26pm and because of a pep rally he had to leave by 3:40. He then asked for sex acts to match the number on his jersey. That’s when the recorded act went down.

Over the weekend the two continued a texting relationship, which at one point Greene told the football player to “chill” before she got in trouble. “Oo. U gona get me in trouble. Chill. We gotta be slick with it,” the text message read. She also told the teen she was unable to have sex with him because “my body is taken for my boyfriend.” By this time, the video had gone viral with other students.

When school administrators learned of the incident they contacted the Police department and Child and Family Services Agency. The same day Greene was questioned by police, a text exchange between the teacher and an undercover police officer revealed she was “scared” of going to jail. She also attempted to persuade the teen to lie to police about the sex act.

Greene is charged with first-degree sexual abuse of a minor in a significant relationship. She entered a not guilty plea and will await the next court date.

An ice cream truck driver accidentally hit and killed a 7-year-old boy in South Los Angeles, late Wednesday.

The child, who has been identified as Jamarion Thomas, was riding a motorized bicycle alongside the ice cream truck around 7 p.m. For unknown reasons, Thomas apparently slipped and was caught under the rear wheel of the truck and run over, according to police. The truck was traveling at 5 mph.

Thomas’s grandmother, Lanora Satterwhite, claims the boy was not on the bike and was instead walking the motorized scooter because it did not work. Thomas was taken to Harbor-UCLA Hospital where he later died in surgery.

Angry residents who witnessed the accident began to attack the driver and his truck. He only suffered bruises and minor injuries, however. The crowd allegedly used bricks and sticks to bash the truck’s windshield. Police say one may have pulled out a knife. According to reports, the Thomas’ mother may have been involved in the attack as well.

Police took the driver, who has not been named, into custody for his safety. He was not arrested. Investigators are searching for his attackers.

An arrest is not expected in this case, as Los Angeles police called Thomas’ death an “unfortunate accident.”

After the police department revised the rules detailing exactly when excessive force is allowed, 125 Seattle cops have filed a lawsuit challenging those rules. The cops argue that the new policies infringe on their constitutional rights to use as much force as they deem necessary in self-protection. The officers claim the police department’s rules infringe on their Second Amendment and Fourth Amendment rights, and defending themselves gives them the right to use excessive force.

Chief U.S. District Judge Marsha Pechman disputed the claims, pointing out that the Second Amendment protects the right to bear arms, not the right to use them. She added that the officers were “grossly misconstrued” regarding the Fourth Amendment when they claimed that it protects them, and not individuals who would be the subjects of police force or seizures.

In addition, the police union, the Seattle Police Officers’ Guild, declined to endorse the lawsuit.

The Justice Department investigated the Seattle police force after numerous high-profile incidents of excessive force were reported. In 2011, it was determined that officers use excessive force about 20 percent of the time. In several instances, some officers pushed and beat suspects simply because they talked back, even when they had no plans to arrest them, or already had them restrained in handcuffs.

Teresa Giudice will serve her 15-month prison stint in a minimum security facility in Danbury, Connecticut. The prison is the same one that inspired “Orange is the New Black.”

On January 5, Teresa, 42, will report to Federal Correctional Institution, Danbury, the so-called OITNB prison. She and husband Joe Guidice were found guilty of bankruptcy fraud and conspiracy. Joe was sentenced to serve 41 months in prison and will serve his sentence after his wife so one parent can stay with the couple’s four daughters.

Piper Kerman served her yearlong sentence at the same facility, which inspired her to write the memoir that spawned the popular Netflix series. Other famous and infamous inmates of the prison camp include Lauryn Hill and Leona Helmsley. Hill was released from the prison camp on Friday, October 3, after serving a three-month sentence for tax evasion.

“The Real Housewives of New Jersey” star petitioned the judge on Wednesday, October 22, to allow her to serve her sentence in a halfway house, which would have afforded her the luxury to work and visit home on the weekends. The judge denied her special request, which she said was not properly timed and would have likely been denied even if Teresa had requested it at the appropriate time.

Teresa was also publicly dropped by her crisis manager, Wendy Feldman, on Monday after she made her halfway house request.

Dick Clark Productions announced Thursday the 2014 American Music Awards performers lineup, including Mary J. Blige and British pop crooner Sam Smith. 5 Seconds of Summer will also take the stage.

The show, whose winners are based on fans votes, will be hosted by Pitbull, who is also performing.

Iggy Azalea leads all nominations with six, as John Legend, Katy Perry and Pharrell Williams each have five nominations. Lorde is up for four honors.

Beyoncé, Luke Bryan, Eminem, Imagine Dragons and One Direction are all up for “Artist of the Year.”

The awards will air on November 23 live from the Nokia Theatre on ABC.

K-9 units at the White House caught 23 year-old Dominic Adesanya climbing the fence at 7:16 pm Wednesday evening. Although the intruder successfully hurdled the fence, it was only a matter of time before guard dogs pounced on him and he was later tackled by secret service officials.

As the resident of Bel-Air, Maryland and former Stevenson University student made it over the fence, officials state that he kicked one dog but was stopped by another. While he is being charged with two counts of assault on a police dog, four counts of resisting arrest and  unlawful entry and one count of making threats, his father has provided an alibi insisting that his son has a mental illness and suffers from paranoia.

“We wanted to get him help, and we’ve been asking the government to give him help and nobody has wanted to help us get help for him,” the man, who didn’t want to be identified, told WMAR-TV.

Apparently Adesanya is no stranger to misconduct. He was previously arrested two months ago at the White House after arguing with security who refused access into the building. In this incident, he was charged with a misdemeanor.

Since the occurrence on the north lawn, the entire White House has been locked down. “The individual was immediately taken into custody on the North Lawn of the White House by Secret Service Uniformed Division K-9 teams and Uniformed Division Officers,” the Secret Service spokesman said. Adesanya has been escorted to the hospital and both dogs have been seen by the local veterinarian for minor bruising.

Cornelius Jefferson, 33, is in police custody for allegedly chocking his new girlfriend after finally meeting her in person once he moved from Georgia to Kentucky. Upon his arrival Tuesday morning at 4:20am,  it was evident that the woman looked nothing like her online dating profile and proceeded to attack her.

He is now facing fourth-degree assault  and according to The Laurel County Sheriff’s Department, “The argument was allegedly because the male subject didn’t think she was like she was on the internet.” In addition, “He allegedly choked her with both hands around the neck and threw food on her and left the scene on foot with two suitcases.”

Soon after the incident, deputies were called to the property, while Jefferson was found walking in a nearby area. He is currently being held in the Laurel County detention Facility.

A New York doctor who was rushed to Bellevue Hospital on Thursday with symptoms of Ebola has tested positive for the fatal virus. The doctor, Craig Spencer, recently returned home to New York from West Africa, where he was a part of Doctors Without Borders. Spencer, 33, is the first diagnosed case in the city.

Health officials say Spencer returned home from treating Ebola patients in Guinea about 10 days ago. He developed a fever of 103 degrees, nausea, pain, and fatigue, which are all symptoms of Ebola infection, Thursday morning. He was admitted into Bellevue Hospital and moved to the isolation unit. There, he tested positive for the virus. A followup test will be done by the CDC to confirm the first diagnosis in New York.

New Yorkers expressed their concerns over the possible spread of the virus throughout the city, especially for users of the city’s public transit system, MTA. Sources noted Spencer traveled from Manhattan to Brooklyn on the subway on Wednesday night and took a cab home from a bowling alley.

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio reassured New Yorkers that “careful protocols were followed every step of the way” in the handling of the case. He noted that Spencer is working closely with health officials. Disease detectives have contacted those who may have come in contact with the physician when he first showed symptoms Thursday morning. His Harlem apartment was sealed off and workers passed out information fliers about the disease.

At this time medical officials said that Ebola is not airborne, meaning an infected person cannot spread the disease through the air. The virus can only be spread by making direct contact with a person already displaying signs of infection. Ebola is transmitted through bodily fluids and secretions, including blood, mucus, feces, and vomit.

A 15-year-old Detroit girl has been arrested and charged as an adult after stabbing her brother in their home. She also attempting to kill the rest of her family, while her boyfriend gave her instructions. Roksana Sikorski was arraigned on Oct. 23, but did not enter a plea.

According to Reuters, Sikorski entered her suburban Detroit home and stabbed her brother, 12, multiple times then turned the knife on her sister. Sikorski’s boyfriend Michael Rivera, 23, was outside the home texting the teen instructions and pictures on how to carry out the murders. The family fled their home and took the boy to the hospital for his wounds.

Sikorski is charged with one count of assault with intent to commit murder, four counts of conspiracy to commit murder, one count of felonious assault, and one count of using a computer to commit a crime. If convicted, she could face a lengthy prison term that will extend into middle0age. She will appear in court next week on Oct. 31st.

“Bluntly, it is rare for this office to charge a 15-year-old as an adult,” Wayne County prosecutor Kym Worthy said. “However, the alleged facts in his case strongly warrant this decision.”

Sikorski’s attorney Leslie Posner said the teen had no prior criminal record and should not have been charged as an adult. Posner said the teen moved out the family home and in with Rivera in August. “She was a normal, decent kid but she started displaying some personality disorders,” the attorney said.

Rivera is charged with four counts of conspiracy to commit murder, one count of assault with intent to commit murder, and one count of felonious assault. The couple is being held with a $1 million bond each. Rivera also did not enter a plea at his arraignment.

Will Smith plans to bring the popular love doctor Hitch to FOX’s small screen. Sources confirmed that a half-hour TV show script commitment is in place with the network. The series is being pitched as a “workplace comedy that explores dating and sexual politics” loosely based on the popular 2005 movie Hitch. The show will be executive produced by Smith and wife Jada Pinkett-Smith, Overbrook Entertainment’s James Lassiter and Caleeb Pinkett. Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont will pen the script.

The original movie grossed $370 million worldwide at the box office and is a mainstay on cable outlets. Hitch tells the story of Alex “Hitch” Hitchens (Smith), a love doctor who helps the loveless Albert Brennaman (Alexander James) snag the girl of his dreams. Hitch’s own brand of medicine is put to the test when he falls in love with a woman played by Eva Mendes.

This will be the third time Smith has tried to bring the series to the small screen. He hasn’t confirmed nor denied if he will reprise his role as love doctor Hitch so there’s still a chance for him to be written into the script. He will work behind the scenes, along with his wife Pinkett-Smith. Pinkett-Smith currently takes residence on FOX’s Monday night lineup as deliciously wicked villain Fish Mooney in “Gotham.”

Hair weave killa’. A Raleigh, North Carolina woman who was arrested during a nightclub raid will now face additional charges for hiding a .38-caliber gun in her hair weave. Deputies were booking Tiffanie Lizette Bass at the Wake County Detention Center when they discovered the gun.

Sheriff Donnie Harrison, who oversees the jail, said deputies noticed the 32 year old walking out of a bathroom with her head leaning to one side. It is unclear why the handgun wasn’t discovered before Bass arrived at the jail. Laura Hourigan, spokeswoman for the Raleigh Police Department, said the department is looking at whether proper procedures were followed when Bass was arrested and whether its policy on searches needs to be evaluated.

Bass, who was apprehended on an outstanding arrest warrant for a worthless check violation, was also charged with possession of a stolen firearm. She is also being charged with resisting a police officer. She remains in jail under a $65,000 bond.
