According to Discovery’s chief executive David Zaslav, OWN’s viewership has drastically improved in comparison to this time last year.
“We’re significantly ahead of where we thought we would be last quarter. After a 14 percent ratings gain in the first quarter in its core audience of women 25-54, OWN grew viewership around 20 percent in the latest period,” he said. “And so far in the third quarter, ratings are up more than 50 percent. Overall, that leaves the channel up about 25 percent year-to-date.”
After a rocky first year and a reported $300 million lost in advertising, Winfrey struck ratings gold with exclusive interviews from Bobbi Kristina, 50 Cent, Paris Jackson, the entire Kardashian family and more.
To keep the momentum going, OWN has just ordered the reality series Life With La Toya which will offer an “up close and personal look” at La Toya Jackson‘s life as she “juggles the many demands of her famous family, finding time for lifelong friends and dealing with a growing entertainment business empire.”
The show is set to premiere next year.
