An apple a day may do more than keep the doctor away; it could find secure you a significant other. A new study, published in the journal Taylor & Francis, says eating fruits and vegetables could make you more attractive. Fruits and veggies give you a healthy glow or “carotenoid coloration” that has a more powerful effect on attractiveness than tanning.
Researchers worked with a group of 60 participants who were shown composite faces whose skin tones spanned a variety of colors associated with carotenoid or melanin. Participants indicated preferences for strong color values. In one study participants preferred the fruits and veggie glow, while participants of a second study chose high melanin. A third study revealed participants had a 75.9 percent preference for high carotenoid coloration.
So what does this mean for you? If you’re still looking for “the one” you better eat up those greens!
