Motown the Musical
The sounds of “Motown the Musical” are set to take a pause on Broadway. The show will temporarily take a break to prepare for its U.K. production, producers said Friday.

The Tony-nominated musical will play its final performance at the Lunt Fontanne Theare on Jan. 18. It will then take a break and return in July 2016 at a yet-t0-be-announced Nederlander-owned theater.

Producer Kevin McCollum said the show’s break will give them “an opportunity to use the production assets from Broadway for the U.K. production next year.” The show is slated to hit the Dominion Theater in London next summer.

“Motown the Musical” follows Berry Gordy‘s story of how he created the legendary record label with acts such as The Jackson 5, The Supremes, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson and more. Since its opening in 2013, the show has grossed more than $18 million and spawned a national tour.
