It was a chaotic scene at 1OAK nightclub in West Hollywood early Sunday morning as shots rang out and former Death Row Records CEO Suge Knight was among those injured. TMZ reports two other partygoers were shot.
The incident occurred at around 1:30 a.m. at a pre-VMA party hosted by Chris Brown. Sources say Knight was shot six times, including in the stomach and arm.
The hip-hop mogul was reportedly able to walk out of the club on his own power and was taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance where he was rushed into surgery. Knight was said to be in the ICU, but is expected to recover.
“It’s disappointing that we as a society can’t have fun or enjoy ourselves without any altercations sometimes,” Brown tweeted. At least one person shot was listed in critical condition.
Sources say the night got off to a rocky start with rapper The Game and his crew getting into a physical altercation with security an hour and a half before the shooting. The star tried to get in 1Oak, but was denied. He left, but his buddies stayed behind; it is unknown if they were involved in the altercation.
