Spike Lee is revisiting an old classic for a new Showtime series.
Deadline reports the famed director is bringing his 1986 dramedy She’s Gotta Have It to television for a half-hour adaptation exploring the themes of race, gender, sexuality, relationships and gentrification in Brooklyn. The show will reportedly give a contemporary view of the characters while sticking to the original themes.
Lee is set to write and direct the developing series should it move to the pilot stage. There has been no word on casting.
