Chris BrownChris Brown will remain behind bars a little while longer due to his own admission about violating probation last year in Washington, D.C. The 25-year-old singer referred to his altercation at a local hotel where he was accused of attacking a man and charged with misdemeanor assault.

On Friday, Superior Court Judge James R. Brandlin sentenced the singer to an additional 131 days in jail, although sources say Brown could be a free man much sooner. His mother Joyce Hawkins and supporters were in attendance to watch the court proceeding.

While Brown was sentenced to a year in county jail, Brandlin gave him credit for nearly eight months. The credits includes his time in rehab and jail, as well as credit for good behavior while behind bars. Brown’s attorney Mark Geragos believes Brown’s time could be cut down even more drastically once officials tally up his sentence.

“If he isn’t out by Monday then I would expect that he’s getting special treatment,” Geragos said. “I think Chris has learned quite a bit through this experience and I’m anxious to see how he does. As I think everybody else is.”

Reports suggest Brown could be released by week’s end.

Brown will remain on probation for his 2009 assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna until Jan. 23. Upon his release, he will be expected to complete his remaining 1,000 hours of community service.
