News of Carol’s Daughter filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection spread faster than a speeding bullet, leaving many fans worried that the natural beauty brand is in trouble. According to the Wall Street Journal, Carol’s Daughter reported debts up to $10 million in court filings and announced store closures would provide the brand an opportunity to bounce back. But those closest to the brand have responded to the recent headlines.
Founder Lisa M. Price is being transparent on what is going on with the company through a personal letter sent to UPTOWN. Price stands as one of a handful of female minority business leaders, and we applaud her honesty about the realities of being a successful business woman.
Celebrity investor and model for the brand Jada Pinkett-Smith has taken to her Facebook page to uplift Price, while showing off her natural hair, and reinforce that the homegrown company is as strong as ever.
“I know you all often see my hair in various ways, but what you see in these pics is MY natural hair. I’ve taken care of this mane with CAROL’S DAUGHTER products for over 15 years, specifically…Lisa’s Hair Elixir. With that said, Carol’s Daughter is still going strong, despite some misleading press, so much so you can now find it in Target, on HSN, Ulta and Sephora inside JCPenny.
My hair would like to say thank you to Lisa Price of Carol’s Daughter for making products that actually nourish the scalp and hair;)J”
Pinkett and her husband Will Smith have been influential in putting Price’s products on the radar.
