Look out, Mona Scott-Young! Two female producers, Trisha Lum and Nickie Lum-Davis, have filed suit against VH1 and MTV claiming they pitched the networks their “Hip-Hop Wives” idea and were lead to believe that they had a show.
Their series was supposed to star current and former flames of DMX, Swizz Beatz, Irv Gotti, and Jim Jones.
VH1 execs maintained, however, that they did not want a show to compete with the “Basketball Wives” franchise.
Fast forward to “Love & Hip-Hop,” the explosive and massively successful VH1 series which first aired in 2011 and now has plans to expand beyond New York and Atlanta to such cities as Chicago, Miami, and Houston. (*makes the sign of the Holy cross*)
Trisha and Nickie are requesting a settlement to the tune of 8 figures, according to their attorney. Reportedly, the amount is around $50 million dollars. No word yet from VH1.
