Author and professional blogger Phylicia, and Mark, a commercial rail scheduler, attended a homecoming event at their alma mater, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, and even took a photo together, but it wasn’t until after the festivities that the college alums actually took notice of one another. When Mark saw Phylicia in a homecoming photo posted on Facebook, he decided to send her a friend request and the rest is history.
One evening, while vacationing in Paris, Mark said he wanted them to take a picture. With no one around to actually snap the shot, he set the timer on the camera. But just as Mark was about to jump into the photo, he said, “I have to get one more thing.” He reached inside of his coat, dropped to one knee and popped the question—perfectly timed for the moment to be captured on camera. Phylicia responded with a resounding “Yes.” After all, what girl wouldn’t love being proposed to in The City of Lights!
The wedding reflected the couple’s classic, yet unconventional, style—from retro Air Jordan sneakers, worn by the newlyweds during their reception, to the colorful socks sported by the groomsmen. The couple plans to honeymoon in Thailand.
