A Florida teen is the youngest lawyer in U.K. history.
Eighteen-year-old Gabrielle Turnquest recently passed the bar exam at England’s University of Law, becoming the youngest person to qualify as a barrister in U.K. history.
The average lawyer undertakes the Bar Professional Training Course when s/he is 27.
In taking the exam so early, Turnquest admits she did not realize she made history. In an interview with The Telegraph she says, “I am honored to be the youngest person to pass the Bar exams but, really, I was not aware at the time what the average age was. I didn’t fully realize the impact of it.”
However, Turnquest earns bragging rights over her older sister Kandi, who passed her exam at the age of 22.
Turnquest previously made history at Liberty University in Virginia, where she was the youngest person to finish an undergraduate degree in psychology, at the age of 16.
Now armed with a law degree, Turnquest is not ready to enter the work force. She plans to qualify to practice law in the United States and the Bahamas, the country of her parents. She hopes to work as a fashion law specialist.
