I wonder what it feels like to be the answer to a trivia question. Cheryl Boone Isaacs would know. She made history Tuesday night by becoming the first African American president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Of the organization’s 32 previous presidents, Boone Isaacs is the first black person and only the third woman to hold the post. Among her first responsibilities will be picking the host for the 2014 Oscars, to be broadcast March 2.

Boone Isaacs currently heads CBI Enterprises, Inc., where she has advised on marketing strategy for films including “The Call,” “The Artist,” “The King’s Speech,” “Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire,” “Spider-Man 2” and “Tupac: Resurrection.” Her 25+ years in the movie industry included theatrical marketing and publicity positions with New Line Cinema and Paramount Pictures.
