Derrick Rose

We couldn’t make this stuff up if we tried.

According to media reports, an Illinois man is reportedly suing Bulls superstar Derrick Rose for missing the 2012-2013 regular season due to a torn ACL from last year’s playoff match between the Philadelphia 76ers.

Matthew Thompson of Peoria believes the All-Star’s inability to suit up has caused him to have mental breakdowns and emotional distress, which ultimately led to obesity issues.

The lawsuit, filed Thursday, states Rose “displayed negligent behavior by refusing to return to the court, despite having been cleared by team doctors” and blames his health issues on the MVP’s refusal to return.

The suit will likely get thrown out with the rest of this week’s trash, but all hope is not lost for Thompson.

Head coach Tom Thibodeau recently told ESPN that while Rose is not quite ready to get back in the game, “there’s always a possibility” for the playoffs.

The Bulls will head to Brooklyn to square off against the Nets in the first round of the NBA playoffs on Saturday.
