Back in October, we reported the partnership between Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey to produce a pair of series for OWN, the network’s first venture into original scripted programming. Today comes the news of what viewers can expect from the mind of Hollywood’s $105 million man.

“Haves and the Have Nots is a single-camera effort about the dynamics of the affluent Cyrer family and the impoverished family of their housekeeper, Hanna, and the obstacles and secrets that exist within both families.
Love Thy Neighbor, meanwhile, is a multicamera series set at Love’s Diner, where every day the menu serves up good food, great laughs, valuable life lessons and a lot of love for its zany neighbors.”
Both shows for will be written, directed and executive produced by Perry for Harpo and Discovery Communications and will be presented under his Tyler Perry Studios banner.

“We are all energized by the opportunity to collaborate with Tyler who has a proven track record for producing highly successful cable series,” Winfrey said at the time of the deal. “He as an incredible ability to illuminate life stories and characters in his unique voice and inspires and encourages people all over the world.”
Production on the series will begin early next year.
