Mariah Carey is following in the footsteps of her American Idol foe Nicki Minaj with the launch of a new OPI nail polish collection. And as to be expected, there’s a whole lotta glitter.
We dropped a few details about the deal back in August which included eight shades that will debut in OPI salons, spas and retailers worldwide in January. The remaining colors will hit shelves later in the year. In addition, the nail lacquer is introducing a brand new nail finish called “Liquid Sand” that features a textured, matte finish when worn without a topcoat.

“OPI is extremely excited to work with Mariah,” said Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI executive vice-president and artistic director. “She’s very passionate about beauty and her nails in particular.”
She continued, “To pay homage to her iconic status, we wanted to launch her collection with something completely new and exciting. Liquid Sand nail lacquer offers a never-before-seen look with a pebbled finish that lightly shimmers with fine glitter particles. Worn without topcoat, Liquid Sand lacquer gives nails a unique textured matte finish worthy of a superstar.”
