Check out the latest happenings around the music world…

  • Sean “Diddy” Combs was honored by the National Action Network on Wednesday at the 3rd annual Triumph Awards in New York City. The organization, founded by Rev. Al Sharpton, recognized the media mogul for his community work and personal success. In his acceptance speech, Combs paid tribute to Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, Sharpton and others for paving the way.
  • Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, The Temptations, James Brown, Aretha Franklin, The O’Jays and more make up the inaugural class of the R&B Hall of Fame. Founders Ron Banks and LaMont Robinson created the museum to celebrate the accomplishments of these well-known artists, as well as those who often get left out of the conversation. “Groups like The Dramatics, The Stylists they might not ever get in there, and if they do we may not get to see it. They deserve to be in it,” Robinson said. “I don’t get mad when they honor Bruce Springsteen and all these other big names because we as Black folks need our own.”
  • Brandy is back in a big way! In addition to releasing her highly anticipated sixth album Two Eleven, the 33-year-old songstress visited Good Morning America on Thursday to deliver a special performance. “I couldn’t find my place in music and I didn’t know where I was gonna go. But now I’ve found it and I’m happy,” she told the audience. Watch “Wildest Dreams” below!
