It comes as no surprise that Alfonso Ribeiro won the Dancing With the Stars competition on Monday night. The host and actor, best known for his role as Carlton on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and his partner Witney Carson have been frontrunners since the season began.
“I cannot believe this! I wanted this forever!” said Ribeiro after he won, with tears streaming down his face.
The three finalists also included teen Sadie Robertson from Duck Dynasty and actress Janel Parrish from Pretty Little Liars, who came in second and third respectively.
The finale included performances by Jennifer Hudson, Nick Jonas and Meghan Trainor. Eliminated contestants also returned to perform their favorite dances of the season. Of course, the three finalists also danced, including a return of “The Carlton,” Ribeiro’s memorable move from his days on The Fresh Prince.
Ribeiro’s win should have been expected given his history with dance. Aside from the iconic dance he created for his Carlton character, a young Ribeiro starred in a Pepsi commercial in 1984 imitating Michael Jackson’s moves.
“Ten years ago I wanted to be here,” said Ribeiro of DWTS. “And I’ve wanted to be here every year in between.”
Ribeiro announced during the broadcast that he will be joining the upcoming Dancing With The Stars live tour.
