A Charlotte Hornets baller has been arrested for domestic violence charges. Jeffrey Taylor was arrested on Thursday after officers responded to an incident at the East Lansing Marriott at University Place around 1:00am.
The police department said in a release Thursday that the 25-year-old forward was charged with one count of domestic assault, one count of assault and one count of malicious destruction of property. Few details on the incident were released.
His bond was set at $5,000. Taylor, who played for Vanderbilt, faces over a year in jail for the misdemeanor charges.
The arrest comes only days after the NBA commissioner, Adam Silver, vowed to take a fresh look at its domestic violence procedures in the wake of the NFL’s rash of incidents.
Silver said during a Staten Island community service event that the league has been discussing with the NBA Players Association ways to further educate players and provide programs to them and their families.
