For the second time in six years, someone threw a Molotov cocktail into the office of Rep. Emanuel Cleaver in Kansas City, Missouri. According to a statement released by the Congressional Black Caucus, no one was injured during the incident and police are investigating.
The statement reads:
“The Congressional Black Caucus strongly condemns this type of vandalism targeted at Congressman Cleaver, and denounces any act of violence towards Members of Congress. This type of abhorrent behavior is the most ineffective means of voicing discontent or disagreement.”
Cleaver took to social media to address the incident by calling it “minor” and urged that the focus should turn back onto the victims and those affected by 9/11.
Folks, my staff is safe and law enforcement is investigating. Focus today should be on greater things.

Let’s not dwell on a small incident that happened and hurt no one. Thoughts, prayers are w/the families & friends of those killed on 9/11.
