Mike Tyson beat down a Canadian news anchor with his words Wednesday. After the host brought up his sexual assault conviction, the heavyweight champion cursed him out on live television.
CP24′s Nathan Downer asked Tyson about his meeting with embattled Toronto Mayor Rob Ford, who recently returned to work after completing rehab and is seeking re-election.
Downer asked: “Some of your critics would say, ‘There’s a race for mayor. We know you’re a convicted rapist. This could hurt his campaign.’ How would respond to that?”
Tyson was clearly upset by the comment and called Downer a negative person before saying, “You come off as a nice guy, but you’re really a piece of s*** … F*** you.”
Downer reminds Tyson that they are on live TV to which Iron Mike responded, “I don’t care. What are you going to do about it?”
The interview continued with Tyson and his Canadian promoter discussing his one-man show Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth, which is beginning its run in Canada. Downer asks if it’s more nerve-wracking to appear on stage than to box. Tyson, still agitated, insults Downer again.
“Come on, Mike,” Downer responds.
Tyson insults him a third time before Downer decides to wrap up the interview and thank Tyson for coming. However, The Champ gets in one last swear before the segment is finished.
After the show, Downer said it was unfortunate that Tyson felt insulted by his question because that was not his intention. He also apologized for the vulgar language on the show. He tweeted:
No ill will toward Mike Tyson. He lashed out at me and that’s okay. Not taking it personally pic.twitter.com/e27mfrOagJ
