An audio recording released Tuesday morning adds to the fire already burning nationwide and across the globe as millions mourn the loss of 18-year-0ld Mike Brown. The Missouri teen was fatally shot by a white police officer on August 9. Thousands paid their respects at Brown’s funeral on Monday.
In the tape, provided to CNN, audio captured from the shooting includes audible gunshots. The tape has still not been verified, but allegedly as many as 10 shots are heard on the tape at a rapid pace. There is a brief pause before more shots are fired.
Autopsy results concluded that Brown was shot six times, with two fatal shots to the head. The Ferguson officer involved has been identified as 28-year-old Darren Wilson.
Police say Wilson stopped Brown and a friend for walking in the street, asking the two to move to the sidewalk, and words were exchanged. Wilson claims that Brown reached for his gun inside the car. Both Wilson and witnesses agree that Brown began to run, but witnesses say Brown had his hands up, surrendering to the the officer.
