Moss will play 19-year-old hacker Brody “Baby Face” Nelson, who has been ordered by a judge to work with Special Agent Avery Ryan in exchange for avoiding jail time. The troubled teen joined hacker groups where he gained an extended family and a reputation as one of the most prolific hackers on the Internet. Nelson will struggle with leaving behind his past life as a notorious “hacktivist” while learning to work with the feds to fight cyber crime.
Anthony E. Zuiker, creator of the CSI franchise, is excited to welcome Moss to the ensemble cast that already includes James Van Der Beek, Peter MacNicol, and Charley Koontz.
“Bow Wow is a gifted young actor who will have the responsibility, through his character, to set an example for young people who watch the show to ‘do what’s right’ even when you know ‘nothing but wrong,’ ” Zuiker said. “It will be a redemption story and a cautionary tale all wrapped into one. The role of Nelson required someone with deep acting chops and off-the-charts smarts. Shad Moss is a unique talent that possesses both.”
Moss already has an extensive resume with appearances on TV and in film. His television credits include HBO’s “Entourage” for three seasons, “Moesha,” “The Steve Harvey Show,” “Brothers Garcia,” “Smallville,” and “Ugly Betty.” He’s better known as a film actor, having starred in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, Roll Bounce, and Like Mike to name a few.
“CSI: Cyber” is executive produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Carol Mendelsohn, Ann Donahue, Pam Veasey, Jonathan Littman, and Zuiker.
