A Florida prisoner is back in jail after admitting to authorities she stole her cellmate’s debit card information in order to bail herself out of jail.
Crystal Stephens took a piece of paper from another prisoner that had her cellmate’s debit card number and expiration date. Stephens, 25, called a bail bondsman and posted bail. Stephens also used the account information to buy a plane ticket for a friend and items from the jail’s commissary. In total, she charged more than $1,700 to the card.

Stephens’ cellmate later noticed the charges after she was released from jail. She immediately suspected Stephens and called Liberty Bail Bonds to confirm.
Meanwhile, Stephens was already back in jail on shoplifting charges. Stephens has been charged with grand theft, fraud, and illegal use of credit cards. She now faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in state prison for fraud and five years on each of the other charges.
