Apollo Nida might actually be catching a break. Despite his eight-year sentence for committing bank fraud and money laundering, the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” husband could be looking at an early release for completing a drug treatment program.
TMZ reports the star has agreed to an “intense” 500-hour program while serving his prison sentence. His acceptance into the program stemmed from a prior DUI.
While Nida isn’t currently addicted to anything, law enforcement sources say he agreed to the treatment in hopes to lower his sentence. Inmates who successfully complete the program reportedly get early releases.
Nida was sentenced on July 8 after submitting a guilty plea of conspiracy to commit fraud charges. Prosecutors allege he created fake companies and opened fake bank accounts to pocket millions in U.S. Treasury checks and auto loan proceeds.

Nida has also been ordered to pay back $1.9 million in restitution to his victims.
