If that Pepsi or Mountain Dew doesn’t quench your thirst, maybe an ice cold Jay Z or Mariah Carey drink will. Drug store chain Walgreens, in partnership with Go N’Syde, is offering new beverages based on the two artists’ brands.
Carey’s “Butterfly” pink lemonade is aimed at middle aged women, and Jay-Z’s “40/40″ Arnold Palmer-like drink, is creatively branded after his nightspot of the same name and intended for sports-loving males. Each bottle is priced at $1.99.
But these won’t be ordinary beverages. Each bottle will be equipped with Augmented Reality integration for fans to download the company’s app and then scan the labels with their phones.
“I never dreamed that I could have an interactive experience with my fans while drinking my own beverage,” said Carey in a statement. “The whole concept is innovative and refreshing and the drink is beyond.”
According to Forbes, the drinks are currently available in select locations, selling approximately 1,000 bottles a week. Once those numbers increase, the drinks will be stocked at 7,500 Duane Reade and Walgreens stores around the country.
