After months of speculation, La Toya Jackson is engaged to long time beau and manager Jeffré Phillips. The singer and former “Celebrity Apprentice” candidate gushed about her engagement Wednesday on “Good Morning America,” saying, “Yes, I’m very much engaged … And it’s wonderful!”
Jackson, 58, is promoting the second season of her reality show on OWN, “Living with La Toya,” and she showed off her massive 17.5 carat ring on GMA. Phillips can be seen on the show asking her father Joe Jackson for her hand in marriage. But if getting engaged and planning a wedding weren’t enough to draw in viewers, Jackson has some other plans too.
Jackson is also thinking about motherhood. “I’ve always wanted to be a mother, all my life,” she said, adding that she’s considered adoption. If she adopts a daughter, Jackson might name her Paris. She revealed a little-known pact that she, brother Michael, and close friend Kathy Hilton created when they were in elementary school. They vowed they would name their first daughters Paris. As we know, both Michael and Hilton have fulfilled the agreement. Now, at almost age 60, it’s Jackson’s turn.
Jackson’s marriage to Phillips will be her second. She was previously wed to former manager Jack Gordon for seven years in the ’90s. Since the separation, Jackson has since detailed the abusive nature of their relationship. She has been single for nearly 20 years after the abusive marriage.
