James Earl Jones is headed back to Broadway in the stage revival of “You Can’t Take It With You” this fall.
The 87-year-old Tony Award winner will star in the production that centers on a woman who must introduce her fiancé’s uptight family to her more eccentric family. Madness ensues.
There is no word on additional casting.
The Pulitzer Prize-winning play originally ran for two years from 1936-38 and was last revived in 1983 with Jason Robards and Colleen Dewhurst.
Jones is best known for his award-winning roles in “The Great White Hope” (1969) and “Fences” (1987). He was most recently seen in “Driving Miss Daisy” and Gore Vidal‘s “The Best Man.”
The show, directed by Scott Ellis, will preview in August and open Sept. 28.
