Kobe Bryant is getting the documentary treatment in a new film from Showtime that will chronicle the NBA superstar’s incredible career.
The project, directed by Gotham Chopra, will reportedly give an inside look into the personal life of one of today’s most successful athletes in the world.
“As a lifelong Boston Celtics fan, never did I imagine I would collaborate with Laker great Kobe Bryant,” said Chopra. “Kobe’s quest for greatness transcends rivalries and I’m excited by his and Showtime’s willingness to go down this rabbit hole together. I’m confident audiences will be intrigued by what comes out the other side.”
Chopra will examine Bryant’s time in the league, as well as the mentorships, allies and rivalries that have shaped his career. Viewers will also relive Bryant’s Achilles tendon tear and subsequent surgery which sidelined him during most of the 2013-14 season.
The film is currently shooting in Los Angeles and is slated for a fall premiere.
