According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network has picked up a late-season pilot for the project starring the actor/comedian. The untitled series will center around “a widowed father of two teens who, after losing his construction job, opts to enroll at the police academy in an effort to become a cop at the ripe old age of 46.”
Mike Lisbe and Nate Reger, of the former CBS series $#*! My Dad Says, will write and executive produce the new show for CBS Television Studios.
Lawrence is widely known for his roles in Bad Boys, the Big Momma’s House series and, of course, his popular 90s sitcom Martin.
