Earlier this week we published a story about penis pumping parties, in which men get their penises injected with random substances, often illegally, for the purpose of penile enlargement. This more often than not turns out bad — not only for the recipient, but also for the unlicensed person administering the procedures.

We’re not talking about a simple tattoo here. Physical augmentation is a serious matter of which the aftermath can have an effect on the body and the patient’s lifestyle for years to come. In an effort to curb these practices, we’re highlighting just a few of the black market cosmetic procedures gone wrong.

Kasia Rivera allegedly performed penis enlargement procedures out of her East Orange, New Jersey apartment.

 Justin Street, 22

In May 2013, Justin Street, a father of two, approached Kasia Rivera for a penile enlargement procedure that she advertised in flyers at local businesses in New Jersey. The day after receiving the injection, he died of silicone embolism. Dr. Daniel S. Elliott, an associate professor of urology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., said it was the first case he’d heard of involving a silicone injection to the penis. “If there were a legitimate method for penile lengthening, Johnson & Johnson or Pfizer would have bought it up and made billions and billions of dollars worldwide,” Elliott said. “The fact that they don’t means it does not exist.”

Claudia Aderotimi, 20

Aderotimi, whose stage name was Carmella London, flew to America for a butt enhancing procedure that left her struggling for breath and suffering from severe chest pains 12 hours later. She was taken to the hospital but could not be saved. The industrial silicone filler used in the procedure leaked into her bloodstream, killing her a day later.

She got the injections in a Budget hotel near the Philadelphia airport because she thought that having a larger derriere would increase her chances of Hip Hop stardom. The surgeon fled the hotel where the procedure was performed. Aderotimi, who was a dancer and choreographer, was even ousted from one shoot because it was found that she was wearing butt pads to enhance her bum.

A man in Thailand got injections of olive oil in order to enhance his penis size almost 20 years ago. Three years after the surgery, signs of infection led to him having to be circumcised. Currently, he is recovering from a surgery to have his genitals removed after developing penile cancer.

Police Lt. Gen. Jongjate Aojanepong, surgeon-general of the Police General Hospital in Bangkok, said that injecting olive oil into a penis cannot enlarge its size. The olive oil, which cannot be absorbed into the body, causes irritation and the body reacts by building connective tissue which can turn malignant. Their police force also has a special team of medical and psychological specialists to attend to the growing number of men who undergo the many illegal and dangerous penis enhancing procedures in Thailand.

Lauren Yardley, 25

Although Yardley went to a medical professional for her procedure, her tale is still a tragic one. She paid almost £4,000, a little more than $6,650, to increase her breast size from an A to a DD with a professional plastic surgeon. A few months after the procedure, her body started to reject one of the implants and literally began to peek out from inside of her breast. She had surgery to correct it. You would think that would be the end, right?

Wrong. Her breast became hard and lumpy. She was diagnosed with capsular contracture, a common complication in implant surgery, in which the body forms a capsule of scar tissue around the implant. Her scar tissue tightened so much that it began to squeeze the implant from her body, causing her to have another surgery to replace that particular implant.

Yardley had to wait for months for her breast to heal — in its natural form. For seven months she was forced to walk around with one DD breast and one A cup until she was healed and was able to have another implant procedure, which incurred no complications.

Renee Talley, 44

Talley’s YouTube video leaves little room for words. The former stripper and VIP club hostess initially received illegal silicone injections in order to enhance her bum, but the liquid gathered unnaturally in her rear and left her rump lumpy. She opted for implants to fix the problem, this time from a professional doctor. However, a few weeks after surgery, her incisions began to open and the implants were flipping around inside of her butt. She is now considering a fat transfer to salvage her wrecked booty.

Mary wasn’t afraid of silicone — after all, she’d seen her plastic surgeon inject it into her face to fade a scar once before. However, she opted for the cheaper route to facial enhancement this time. She purchased silicone that was not medical grade and was labeled as personal lubricant and decided to do the procedure herself. Her face turned into a puff of blisters in this $10 DIY nightmare. Luckily Dr. Stephen Williams was able to save her.

“It’s nothing you can just draw out — it’s something you have to actually go in and surgically cut out,” explained Dr. Williams. “The body looks at this as almost like an invasion and tries to break down the material and that’s accompanied by inflammation and scar tissue.”

Hang Mioku, 48

Hang is a certified plastic surgery addict. The former model has been receiving plastic surgery, mostly facial enhancements, since she was 28 and eventually got to the point where her doctors refused to perform any surgeries on her. She, also, became unrecognizable to her parents and family after so many procedures.

After running out of money for plastic surgery, Hang turned to DIY options. Her last resort was to inject herself with cooking oil, which awarded her the nickname Standing Fan because her face was so large in proportion to her small body.

Her story spread and viewers to took pity on her and raised enough funds to allow her to undergo surgery to have much of her face reduced. Doctors reportedly removed around 60g of foreign mater from her face and 200g from her neck. She now says that she just wants her original face back.
