Recent studies by Sam Gosling and Jason Rentfrow suggest that the type of music that you choose for your playlists can give accurate clues to your personality attributes.
Scientists were able to make fairly accurate judgements on the personalities of the playlist makers after listening to 10 of their favorite songs. They were able to distinguish individuals’ levels of introversion and extroversion, self-esteem, intelligence, and aggressiveness just to name a few.
A similar study conducted by Heriot-Watt University asked individuals to rate around 104 styles of music and offer information in regards to their personality to draw conclusions. Below are a few of the correlations found from the study as reported by About.com.
