Real Housewives Of New Jersey stars Teresa Giudice and husband, Giuseppe “Joe” Giudice have plead guilty to several counts of fraud and failure to pay taxes.
The reality TV couple plead guilty to multiple counts of bankruptcy fraud, conspiracy to commit fraud and mail fraud. Joe Giudice, 43, also plead guilty to failure to pay $1 million dollars in taxes from 2004-2008. Teresa, 41, faces between 21-27 prison sentence and husband Joe faces 37-46 months behind bars. After serving his prison term, it’s likely Joe, an Italian citizen, will be deported. Teresa is required to pay $200,000 dollars to the government.
After the hearing, Teresa, the mother of four young children, released a statement:
“Today, I took responsibility for a series of mistakes I made several years ago,” she said. “I am heartbroken that this is affecting my family — especially my four young daughters, who mean more to me than anything in the world.”
The Towaco, New Jersey couple will learn of their fate on July 8. Teresa will continue the sixth season of Real Housewives, which films later this year.
According to officials, their jail terms may be staggered so one parent can be kept at home with their children, ages 13-4, while the other is behind bars.
