More than a decade later, Nick Cannon has confirmed he’s delivering a second installment of Drumline for a new generation.
While visiting MTV2′s “Charlamagne & Friends,” the 33-year-old star explained:
“They’re probably going to be mad at me. I can announce it now– it’s officially happening. I’m not in it, I’m just producing it. I might make a cameo. [...] My whole goal is to do the Drumline TV show, so this movie then goes into the storyline of what the Drumline TV show is about. It’s really going to be about that Black college experience through music. It’s going to be pretty hot.”
Released in 2002, Drumline starred Cannon and Zoe Saldana in the drama centered on a young drummer from New York City who heads to the fictional Atlanta A&T University to play for the band’s drum section. The film grossed nearly $60 million on a $20 million budget.
There is no word on when production will begin.
