Cosmetic pioneer Mary Kay unveiled the sleek, black BMW 320i last week at the annual leadership conference in New Orleans. The BMW is part of the career car options for top-selling sales associates, who are all independent consultants. The luxury car will join the infamous, powder pink Cadillac, a special shade ordered from the factory itself, and will replace the Ford Mustang. The pink Cadillac was quickly deemed a status symbol of achievement when it was released in 1969.
“When you think of BMW you think of sophistication, luxury, safety and class but overall, you think of performance,” said Sara Friedman, Vice President of U.S. Marketing for Mary Kay, in a statement released to the media. “These traits align beautifully with Mary Kay. By adding the BMW 320i to the Mary Kay Career Car program, we are providing a new kind of elegance and style to the top-performing Independent Beauty Consultants, while inspiring them to achieve new goals in their Mary Kay businesses.”
The partnership with BMW is one of the biggest announcements in the 50-year history of the beauty giant.
