76-year-old comedy legend Bill Cosby – who taught a generation how to parent children lovingly while laying down the law – has inked a deal to develop and star in a half-hour family comedy produced by Tom Werner. The two are no strangers to collaborating, as Werner’s production company was behind ’80s hit, The Cosby Show. In the new series, Cosby is set to play a respected patriarch of a multi-generational family, telling Yahoo TV in November that he was eager to develop another family comedy that “would [satisfy] the people who have come to me in public places and said, ‘Can’t you put something on that I can watch?’” Cosby and Werner are reportedly currently seeking writers for the NBC project, according to People. Along with the new live-action series, Cosby is also working on an update for his animated series Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids.
