Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver, Brad Smith, utilized the 2013 NFL off-season to immerse himself in the world of fashion. He shifted his focus from the gridiron to men’s garb, scoring an internship with Men’s Health Magazine.
As part of the experience, he assisted with Fashion Week coverage and sat runway-side for top shows. Now Smith is turning his sartorial interests into an opportunity for unique design talents. The footballer is calling all emerging designers across the U.S. to showcase their skills and creativity in his “Design for Brad Smith” competition. Entrants are asked to submit a red carpet ready look for Smith, in the form of a hand drawn or digital sketch.
Beyond having an NFL star don their threads, the winner will also have their look produced by a fashion production team, among other industry related opportunities.
“I’d tell the participants to keep it simple. I like clean, classic lines, with a bit of an edge. Someone took a chance with me and I always want to pay it forward,” says Smith about launching this competition.
The “Design for Brad Smith” competition ends on Thursday, January 23rd.
