Tia and Tamera Mowry appeared on OWN’s “Where Are They Now?” on Friday night and discussed the racist criticism they’ve had to deal with as a result of their marriage choices.
The twins, who are themselves bi-racial, have apparently dealt with an onslaught of comments regarding the race of their husbands. Tia is married to actor Corey Hardict, a Black man, and Tamera is married to Fox News correspondent Adam Housley, who is white. Tamera broke down into tears as soon as she broached the topic, recounting hateful comments that she’s received. “It’s hurtful because what my husband and me are so open and fine with showing is love. Love. But people choose to look past the love and spew hate,” said Tamera through her tears. For her part, Tia says that people have told her that Tamera got it right in marrying a white man and Tia should have done the same.
All of it is ridiculous. These two have been positive role models for so many years now. Watching them on their reality show “Tia & Tamera,” they seem like such beautiful and upbeat people, so it really just sucks to hear that they’ve been the targets of such malicious commentary in return. When will people get over that BS? Watch the clip below:
