Only time will reveal if we ever see the day when Idris Elba suits up to play the legendary James Bond, but you can be 100 percent sure that if he ever warms up to the idea, he won’t be the “Black Bond.”
For years, movie buffs have been rooting for the British star to take on the iconic character as a departure from the typical White actor. Even Daniel Craig, the franchise’s current agent, has backed the notion. Yet, Elba remains resistant despite public opinion and media reports.
“It’s a rumor that’s gotten out of control, basically — but that’s all it is,” he told ITV’s Lorraine. “There’s no truth in it whatsoever.”

Elba said he’s also turned off by those throwing race into the mix.
“We don’t say ‘white Bond,’ we just say ‘Bond,’” he explained. “So it suddenly becomes a Black man and he’s a ‘Black Bond.’ So I hate that phrase.”
There you have it, folks. We can only hope for a change of heart.
