Despite all the controversy surrounding JAY Z‘s decision to stick with his collaboration with Barneys New York, the 44-year-old rapper has reportedly helped collect more than $1 million for his Shawn Carter Foundation.
One hundred percent of the collection’s profits were given directly to the foundation, as well as ten percent of all of Barneys’ sales on the day of the line’s debut. The charity helps students in need pay for college.
A source close to the high-end store said figures were still be tallied on Friday (Dec. 4), the last day of sales, but profits had already broke a million.
The collection– which featured luxury items from Balenciaga, Proenza Schouler, Balmain, Lanvin and more– was released to Barneys amid reports of racial profiling against two Black customers.
