An Ohio man has stepped forward to take blame for the death of another man in a fatal wrong-way car crash due to a night of heavy drinking. Yet, he’s done so in an unconventional way– via YouTube.
Matthew Cordle, 22, posted his 3 1/2-minute confession detailing the unfortunate incident that took the life of Vincent Canzani back on June 22. In the powerful clip, he says he is fully owning up to the accident and is willing to pay the price for his thoughtless actions.
“When I get charged I’ll plead guilty and take full responsibility for everything I’ve done to Vincent and his family,” Cordle explains. He goes on to turn others away from drinking and driving.
“I can’t bring Mr. Canzani back, and I can’t erase what I’ve done, but you can still be saved. Your victims can still be saved. So, please, make the promise to never drink and drive,” he urges.
Officials say Cordle was a suspect in the deadly crash, but has not been formally charged. He will likely be indicted for aggravated vehicular homicide with an alcohol specification, which carries a maximum of eight years in prison upon conviction.
