Yesterday’s Georgia school shooting suspect was previously arrested, according to new details released by CNN.
Michael Brandon Hill, 20, allegedly barricaded himself in the front office of the Ronald E. McNair Discovery Learning Academy in the Atlanta-area Tuesday and fired about six shots from an AK-47 at school officers before surrendering to Dekalb County police.
However, there were warning signs that Hill was a violent threat to society. In March, he was charged with making “terroristic threats and acts” after threatening to kill his brother via text message, in late December, according to Henry County District Attorney James Wright.
Hill was found guilty and was sentenced in July to serve three years probation and attend anger management classes. It’s unclear whether he had attended any classes prior to Tuesday’s shooting.
Fortunately no one was injured in Tuesday’s attack. However, students and parents were shaken and couldn’t help but remember the Sandy Hook school shooting.
“I was terrified,” said Romaine Hudson, the mother of two girl who attend the school, to the AP. “The only thing I could think of when I first heard of this situation was Sandy Hook.”
Ronald E. McNair resumed classes today as parents and students are adjusting to yesterday’s events.
