The Weinstein Company has released the trailer for its new biopic of former South African president Nelson Mandela.
Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom is directed by Justin Chadwick and stars Idris Elba as the famed liberation leader.
The film was screened for the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday as part of events taking place in celebration of Nelson Mandela International Day. Everyone from entertainers to politicians were in attendance including singer and civil rights icon Harry Belafonte, former President Bill Clinton, Reverend Jesse Jackson, U.N. General Assembly president John William Ashe, and Secretary-General of the U.N Ban Ki-moon.
Mandela, who recently had his 95th birthday, has been hospitalized since June. His daughter Zindzi told reporters her father has made “dramatic progress” and is expected to go home “anytime soon.”
The release date for Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom is November 29th.
