Let’s go ahead and throw this in the running for one of the best videos of the year, shall we?
Janelle Monáe and Erykah Badu keep it fresh and funky in their video for “Q.U.E.E.N.,” directed by Alan Ferguson. The six-minute visual takes place in the Living Museum where “legendary rebels from throughout history have been frozen in suspended animation,” including members of Wondaland, Monáe and Badoula Oblongata.
And with the drop of the record, the queens come alive.
“All the beautiful women dancing in Q.U.E.E.N. are my real friends. That’s how we get down when no one is filming! Love them!” Monáe noted.
The single will appear on Monáe’s upcoming album The Electric Lady, due this summer.
