I received this mini-poster via Facebook from a friend and I love it. Why? Because it laughs in the face of expectation. At 33, I’m “supposed” to be married with at least one kid. That was pretty much true for all the women of my mother’s generation. And according to dear ol’ mama, she definitely should have some grandbabies to dote on and spoil.
Sorry mom, I guess all that schooling and the deep desire to follow my dreams of becoming a writer, live in New York and travel the world got in the way of “settling down.” Not to mention the fact that I have yet to master the art of a successful romantic partnership. But still, was Kanye right when he said, “On that independent shit, trade it all for a husband and some kids?”
