While many retired athletes go on to enjoy careers in sports broadcasting, take on professional coaching positions or simply sit on their millions, former NBA star Adrian Dantley has chosen a different path.
The hall of famer and Olympic gold medalist is spending these days as a crossing guard at Eastern Middle School and New Hampshire Estates Elementary School in Silver Spring, MD. Dantley, who is reportedly still worth millions, says he started working in September to pass the time, reap the health care benefits and help children.
“It’s not beneath me. I’m a regular guy.” said the former Utah Jazz star. “[...] It definitely has meaning and I feel like I’m helping the community and it’s all about the kids.”
