*UPDATE: Following a 19-hour standoff, 64-year-old Kurt Myers was shot and killed by police early Thursday morning in the building where he had been holed up overnight.

State police are expected to hold a news conference at 10 a.m. to release more details.

*UPDATE: The Utica Observer-Dispatch reports police have not yet apprehended 64-year-old Kurt Myers, the shooter who killed four people and injured two in upstate New York Wednesday morning. Officials believe he may have been picked up by a taxi.

Police have considered Myers “armed and extremely dangerous,” advising residents to stay indoors and call 911 if they see him.

Police said they are “familiar” with the suspect, but could not comment on any criminal record he may have.

Police in upstate New York are on the hunt for a suspect who killed four people and left two wounded during a shooting at a local car wash and a barbershop, according to The Associated Press.

State police say a man fatally shot two unidentified people Wednesday morning at Gaffey’s Fast Lube in the village of Herkimer. Two others were killed at Jon’s Barber Shop just a mile away in the village of Mohawk; both areas are about 65 miles east of Syracuse.

In all, six people have been shot.

Herkimer County Community College and local schools are on lockdown.
