Could Oscar nominated actress Quvenzhané Wallis be headed toward another brilliant role in the coming months? Industry insiders say yes.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the charming 9-year-old is being considered for the title role in Sony’s remake of the Broadway classic Annie.
While director Will Gluck and the producers at Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment and Jay-Z’s Marcy Media have yet to make any casting decisions, Wallis could be taking on the loveable character passed on by Willow Smith.

Initial reports stated that Willow had simply outgrown the role since being cast at age 9. But in a recent interview at Temple University, Will said his daughter would much rather live life as a normal 12-year-old.
He explained:
“Willow was supposed to be doing Annie, we got Jay-Z to do the movie, got the studio to come in and Willow had such a difficult time on tour with ‘Whip My Hair’ and she said, ‘You know Daddy, I don’t think so’ and I said, “Baby, hold up! I said no, no, no, listen, you’ll be in New York with all of your friends and Beyonce will be there. You will be singing and dancing,’ and she looked at me and said, ‘Daddy, I have a better idea, how about I just be 12.’”
Production on Annie is expected to begin this fall and is slated for a 2014 release.
