Authorities say more than 50 people were injured when a ferry crashed into a New York City dock Wednesday morning. One person is being listed as in critical condition and is being treated at a nearby hospital.
The accident occurred around 8:45 a.m. as the The Seastreak ferry slammed into Lower Manhattan’s Pier 11. Witnesses say several passengers were flung from their feet when the vessel crashed and injured parties were carted away on stretchers by emergency personnel.
While the cause of the crash is still unknown, the National Transportation Safety Board said it’s sending a team to investigate the incident.
The ferry, which provides daily service between New Jersey and Pier 11 near Wall street, carried a reported 343 passengers and five crew members during the time of the crash.
