Tina Campbell admits that she almost resorted to physical violence when she found out that her husband had cheated on her.
Today, Tina and her husband Teddy are the proud parents in a happy household, but that wasn’t always so. The singer revealed in Ebony‘s June 2013 issue that she and Teddy almost got a divorce when after she learned that he’d been unfaithful to her.
The legal battle continues between Kobe Bryant and his mother over possession of memorabilia from high school and his early professional basketball career, reports The Associated Press.
According to a court filing on Wednesday, the 34-year-old NBA star never gave Pamela Bryant the permission to sell hundreds of item that include jerseys, practice gear, a trophy, a signed basketball and more.
Kobe says his mother acknowledged to him that she did not have permission to sell the memorabilia.
Pamela alleges Kobe told her the items were hers and had already arranged to sell them through Goldin Auctions. She received a $450,000 advance.
Last week, Kobe wrote to the auction house to cease the June auction, but Goldin is suing for its right to sell the item.

You can convince your significant other to see a movie you know they’d hate, or sit through a dinner with those friends of yours you know he or she can’t stand, but trying to convince your partner to have kids when not wanting one has already been decided is a far different battle to fight–or win.
According to a University of Michigan study of over 3,000 mothers who had just given birth, 60 percent reported their child as planned, almost 30 percent say the pregnancies were “mistimed,” and, most importantly, 10 percent admit the children were unequivocally “unwanted,” proving that just because a couple–or one half of it–doesn’t desire children, it doesn’t mean the couple always refrains from adding a new addition to the family.

Malcolm Shabazz, the grandson of civil rights icon Malcolm X, has been killed in Mexico according to The Amsterdam News. He was 28.
Shabazz’s death was also confirmed on Twitter and Facebook by Terrie Williams, a friend of the Shabazz family.
Talking Points Memo reported that Shabazz died of injuries sustained during a robbery.
“He was murdered. He was in Mexico City and I believe they attempted to rob him and he didn’t allow it, so they beat him to death and he died on his way to the hospital,” Juan Ruiz, a member of the California-based labor organization Rumec, told TPM. “This is all I can confirm, everything else is under investigation for the meantime.”

Here’s a hard sister act to follow: identical twins Kirstie and Kristie Bronner (yes, those are their names) have been named co-valedictorians of Spelman College, a historically Black college in Atlanta, Georgia. See, Kirstie had a 4.0 GPA and her twin sister Kristie also had a 4.0 GPA, so the school appointed them both to the highest academic honor.

A sophisticated group of global thieves managed to pull off the ultimate robbery in which Internet hackers and common street criminals were able to steal $45 million from ATM machines around the world. No guns. No ski masks. Just brains.
The New York Times reports:
“After pulling off the December theft, the organization grew more bold, and two months later it struck again — this time nabbing $40 million.
On Feb. 19, cashing crews were in place at A.T.M.’s across Manhattan and in two dozen other countries waiting for word to spring into action.
[...] After securing 12 account numbers for cards issued by the Bank of Muscat in Oman and raising the withdrawal limits, the cashing crews were set in motion. Starting at 3 p.m., the crews made 36,000 transactions and withdrew about $40 million from machines in the various countries in about 10 hours. In New York City, a team of eight people made 2,904 withdrawals, stealing $2.4 million.
Surveillance photos of one suspect at various A.T.M.’s showed the man’s backpack getting heavier and heavier, [Loretta E. Lynch] said, comparing the series of thefts to the caper at the center of the movie ‘Ocean’s Eleven.’”
Prosecutors said the job was one of the largest heists in New York City history, topping the 1978 Lufthansa robbery which inspired the movie Goodfellas.
Hackers were successful in raising the withdrawal limits on several prepaid debit accounts which, in come some countries, allowed criminals to unload more than $10,000 from a single bank machine. The prepaid cards also allowed the thieves to take money without draining the bank account of individuals.
In the aforementioned December theft, robbers were able to withdraw $5 million through 4,500 ATM transactions around the world.
On Thursday (May 9), federal prosecutors charged eight men in New York for their alleged role in the scheme– including the suspected ringleader who was reportedly killed in the Dominican Republic last month.

According to VIBE.com, multi-hyphenate Nick Cannon is looking to resurrect the longstanding variety show Soul Train for a younger generation. The site reports:
“Trusted sources tell VIBE that Nick Cannon is rubbing his jaws of life over the Soul Train franchise, as he negotiates a multi-million dollar deal for complete rights to the urban music variety show.
The source says that deal is still in the works, however, the NCredible CEO plans to revive the show in a modern-day format, with the modern stars like The-Dream or Meek Mill commanding Soul Train dance lines.”
Cannon is already prepping the return of his hit MTV Series Wild N’ Out with some familiar faces such as Deray Davis and Mikey Day, as well as a few newcomers.
Soul Train ran from 1971 to 2006, showcasing an array of talented acts and the latest dance moves.

In addition to making his return to “The Voice” this week, CeeLo Green has also landed a new show with TBS.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Turner network has green lit a six-episode series, tentatively titled “The CeeLo Life,” which follows the Grammy Award-winning musician along with his Goodie Mob group mates, Big Gipp, Khujo and T-Mo, as they work on their new long-awaited hip-hop album.
“With his distinctive voice, winning personality and remarkable ability to tap into a wide range of musical styles, CeeLo Green has risen to the top of the music industry,” Michael Wright, president, head of programming for TBS explained to the site. “This new TBS series will give viewers the chance to get to know CeeLo Green,who is without a doubt one of the hardest working men in show business. The CeeLo Life is certain to be a smart, fun and funny journey packed with a lot of great music.”

Long before she became the queen of soul, Aretha Franklin sang in her father’s Baptist church in Detroit.
On Saturday, she’ll headline the annual McDonald’s Gospelfest at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. Donnie McClurkin, Hezekiah Walker and Cissy Houston will be featured.
But that’s not the only event on Franklin’s weekend calendar. She also has a meeting about her upcoming biopic, which has been in the works for years. Franklin says she’s heavily involved in the project, including who will play her in the film. Front-runners include Jennifer Hudson and Tony winner Audra McDonald.
“I just try to come up with the names I feel are going to best present this, who are the people that will best present my biopic and what I have in mind,” the 71-year-old singer said in an interview Thursday with The Associated Press.
AP: Who’s going to be a part of the meeting about your biopic?
Franklin: Mr. (Clive) Davis has gotten in the group and Suzanne de Passe, who co-wrote `Lady Sings the Blues.’ Taylor Hackford, who did … `Ray’ … and the William Morris agent and myself. Those are the principals that will be meeting this weekend.
AP: What do you think about Audra McDonald starring in the film?
Franklin: The question where Audra is concerned is whether or not Audra can get into soul. That would be the question because she has the voice, she has a beautiful instrument. I just wonder how far she can get over into soul.
AP: What about Jennifer Hudson? She has a lot of soul.
Franklin: Jennifer would come up with some good things.
AP: Anyone else?
Franklin: The rest would come out of the producer’s book. People that they want me to listen to that I may not know.
AP: Some people are upset because Zoe Saldana is playing Nina Simone in that biopic and they don’t believe she resembles Simone.
Franklin: I did know Nina and I would have liked to see someone with a little more of a likeness and hopefully played the piano. But I don’t know Ms. Saldana’s work and Hollywood can do a lot of things in terms of changing your features and all of that.

The day Toni Enclade has dreaded is upon her — Mother’s Day.
Enclade’s 26-year-old daughter Terrilynn Monette, a teacher in New Orleans, vanished on March 2. Enclade has been preparing herself to face the second Sunday in May without her.
“I have to keep myself strong for her because if I don’t do it, I don’t think anybody else will,” Enclade told HuffPost in a phone interview this week.
Monette, a second grade teacher, was last seen in surveillance footage driving alone in the early morning hours. She had been socializing with friends in Parlay’s Bar in the Lakeview neighborhood. Her black 2012 Honda Accord has not been found.
Enclade, 50, has made several trips from her home in Long Beach, Calif., to New Orleans to look for her daughter and to keep the search in the news. Her next trip is scheduled for May 17.
“It’s very hard,” said Enclade, who maintains a degree of normalcy by spending time with her other daughter and two grandchildren. “They’re what keeps me going.”
A state lawmaker who was moved by seeing Enclade’s televised pleas for information arranged for tow companies to dredge Bayou Saint John in an effort to locate Monette’s car.
“She’s very distraught,” said state Rep. Austin Badon (D), who regularly talks to Enclade. “The worst part about it is that she has no answers. It’s like her daughter just vanished from the face of the earth.
“I dreaded calling her the other day, because we had been doing things on an almost daily basis and I didn’t know what we were going to do next,” Badon said. “We’re running out of places to look in the New Orleans area, to be honest with you.’
Crews plucked 17 sunken cars this week from Bayou Saint John. They will scour the water again with sonar equipment on Sunday in an area near where “weeks old” tire tracks lead to the shoreline, Badon said. Canals and other waterways have been plumbed since April.
Police interviewed a man who was seen talking to Monette outside the bar. At this time police have no official suspects, but haven’t ruled out anything, according to local station WDSU.
The New Orleans Police Department said it doesn’t suspect foul play and classifies Monette as a missing person.
